Nashville is one of the world's great songwriting cities, and this afternoon camp at University School of Nashville gives kids ages 7 through 10 a genuine taste of that creative process. Campers write, compose, and perform original songs under the guidance of Nashville music professionals — covering songwriting structure, melody creation, and lyric writing in a way that's approachable for elementary-aged kids. The performance element is real: this isn't just a writing exercise, so kids should be ready to share their work on stage by the end of the week. Sessions run 12:30 to 4:00 p.m., making it a solid afternoon option if you're piecing together a full day of summer programming. At $250, it lands in a reasonable range for specialty arts programming in Nashville. Two sessions run from June through early July, with one still open as of now. Families also explore University School of Nashville: Little Songwriters, University School of Nashville: Vocal Music and Performance, and University School of Nashville: A Wonderful Week of Wicked! for similar theatre and performance options at USN.
