Track and field isn't often the first sport Nashville parents think of for summer camp, but this week-long program at Harpeth Hall is a genuine standout. Rising 4th through 8th graders (ages 9–13) work directly with Coach Jim Romero across the full range of track and field disciplines — sprints, relays, hurdles, long jump, high jump, and shot put. That's a remarkably complete introduction to the sport, covering both running events and field events in a single week. The camp runs mornings only, 9am to noon, July 20–24, which makes it easy to combine with afternoon activities. At $175 for the week, it's solid value for a focused, skill-building experience. The week wraps up with a mini track meet where kids get to showcase what they've learned — a nice touch that gives the camp real stakes without being overly competitive. Beginners are welcome; the structure favors learning fundamentals rather than racing times. Families also look at Harpeth Hall: Volleyball Camp, Harpeth Hall: Middle School Tennis Camp, and Harpeth Hall: Middle School Competitive Soccer for other summer sports options on the same campus.
