The Nashville Suzuki Institute at Blair School of Music is a focused, week-long intensive for string and brass players ages 4 through 17 who are studying in the Suzuki Method. Held at Blair School of Music on Blakemore Avenue, it brings together young musicians for daily masterclasses, technique work, and repertoire classes across violin, viola, cello, and brass. The Suzuki approach—rooted in the idea that musical ability is a learned skill, not an innate talent—means students of varying levels are welcome, from young beginners still developing fundamentals to older teens refining their performance practice. The full-day schedule runs 8am to 3:30pm across six days in mid-July, so it's a real commitment, but parents often find it one of the more rigorous and rewarding music opportunities in Nashville for Suzuki-track students. At $675 for the week, it's priced in line with other intensive music programs. Because this program is fairly specialized, there aren't close equivalents locally, but families interested in structured music instruction should explore Blair's other summer offerings as well.
