ACT TOO Players runs a serious musical theatre intensive for older teens, and this summer's production is Catch Me If You Can — the Broadway musical based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr., who famously impersonated a pilot, doctor, and lawyer while evading the FBI. If your high schooler has been in school shows and wants a more demanding, professional-style experience, this is worth a close look. The program meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m., June 9 through August 2 — eight weeks of rehearsals building toward an actual performance at the Franklin Theatre, a real performing arts venue in downtown Franklin. That's a meaningful step up from a typical camp showcase in a school gym or black box. At $549 for the full intensive, it's a reasonable investment for teens serious about musical theatre. The 14–18 age range means your teen is working alongside other high schoolers who've self-selected into something demanding, which tends to make for a more focused and creatively rewarding ensemble experience.
